Born in Naha City, in the Prefecture of Okinawa (Japan) in 1935, Yoshimiro Shiroma, known as Kiko Shiroma, exhibited for his first solo exhibition back in 1958.
Nato a Naha City, nella Prefettura di Okinawa (Giappone) nel 1935, Yoshihiro Shiroma, in arte Kiko Shiroma, conta la sua prima esposizione personale nel 1958.
He is well known in the post-war Japanese art environment for having been among the three founders, together with Yoko Ohama and Mikkiyo Ohmine, of the "Kou" group, an artistic movement that in 1962 placed itself within the artistic Japanese panorama as an "anti-fine-arts" movement. Highly influenced by the avant-garde movements of Japanese Gutai and French Art Informel, Kiko Shiroma and his companions have - despite criticism - laid the foundations of the Japanese avant-garde.
Kiko Shiroma died 2019.
Today some of his artworks are exhibited at the Okinawa Prefectural Art Museum in Okinawa (Japan).
